Crappy day..but getting better

OK Been a while since I logged on. Generally, I was in the crapper and even though I was a mess…..it was a comfortable place to be. Easier to be all dopey and glum than acutally do something to get myself out of that funk. I like logging on because I get positive energy form reading th blogs about accomplishments and obstacles that have been overcome. My life is pretty good and I need to remember that. I need to get back to exercising. That always clears things up.

Low motivation but still doing something

Last week was really good as far as working out on the elliptical. Took the weekend off, again, (no problem) and then took monday off…BIG Problem. Yesterday I drug out the exercise bike and did 30 minutes early afternoon and then last night, I did 60 minutes! Forty minutes this morning and the plan is for a hour tonight at least. The bike is a lot easier and like I tell a ‘certain someone’ who says that I’m wasting my time… “Well, at least I’m not sitting on my ass eating chips and pounding back a cooler!” That pisses me off! I mean like, ANY activity is better than none right? I like the bike, yes, the elliptical gives me more of a workout, but, when energy/motvation is low, it’s great that I can still muster up the good sense to get in some exercise. Well, I’ve sounded off and now it’s time to wash the kitchen floor and clean the litter boxes! Feeling good about myself and hope everyone feels positive about themselves this hump-day!

Exercise Log

Brownie free zone

Hey! Stepped on the scale this morning and I’m down to 154.6lbs! It took almost a month to burn off the box of brownies from Costco. Hopefully, I will remember this and next time I’m stressed, or feel like saying “the hell with it all” I will remember just how hard a moment of weekness is to burn off. I’m sleeping good, nails are growing and I have a lot more energy. Did’nt do muchin the form of exercise this weekend but that’s alright. I hopped on the elliptical this morning for 6 miles and tonight I’ll put another 6 in. I watched the season opener of Dr Oz this morning and it was all about losing 10lbs. He had some good hints, most of which I already knew. But, it’s nice to hear someone say out loud what you already know. I wanted one of those bracelets, but, because I live in Canada, I’m out of luck. I guess this blog will be my reminder.

I bought one of those resistance ropes. Going to start using that and hopefully tone up my arms. It’s starting to look like a mini-gym in my house! Going to have to keep up the ambition now and actually use all this equipment. I’m feeling good and it’s a new week! Cheers to all and take care!

ARGH!!!!

STRESS is at a all-time HIGH today. I was handling this last situation fine, or, so I thought. Last 2 nights I’ve tossed and turned, started chewing my nails AGAIN, and worst of all….mild angina! The Costco brownies are GONE, well, unless you look at my thighs! I did go on the elliptical a couple nights back, nothing too excessive, just a medium/slow pace for 30 minutes. Today, I’m trying to calm myself and slow my breathing. After the kid is done school I have an appointment to take him into and then, well,,,I think we’ll go for supper. Hopefully my husband can meet us. It would be nice for the three of us to have some time together. Been really hetic the last month.

“This too shall pass.” I know. Putting this down has already helped. Wishing you all a joyous weekend with the ones you love.

Gonna try jogging

Well, here we are once again. First it was the treadmill, (gave that away) then the bike, elliptical, dvds and the weight machine. Tell me, is there something I’m forgetting? So anyway, I’m in the bathroom waiting the 10 minutes for NAIR to work on my legs and I’m leafing through my Best Health magazine, (Canadian magazine for women) and I come across an article on how to start jogging. Now, running is something I NEVER figured I would EVER attempt, however, the woman who wrote about it had the same feeling toward running as I did. A 30 minute jog 3 times a week actually doesn’t seem that hard. First thing I need to do is buy a GOOD jogging bra. The one I’ve been using is good for low/medium impact sports only. Found that out quickly the painful way. Anyways, starting slowly is how to approach this I read. 1 minute of walking followed by a minute of jogging. By the 4th week I should be pretty close to 30 minutes of light jogging. Trust me, there in NO marathon in my future. We have a nice walking path park a block away so the walk there will be my warmup. (See how I’m telling myself that this is something I can do? lol) I’m going to get back on the elliptical and bike as well as the weights. It’s the middle of July and I need to start doing things just for me. Do you know what I mean? When I’m in the middle of my exercise, I’m not thinking about anything or anyone. It’s kinda nice just to let go. Well, I’m getting too much “Dr Phil” like so I should sign off. Cheers to all and have a great week!

Week One

Yeah for me! I actually worked out 5 days straight with the Biggest Loser DVD. Sometimes just one 10 minute workout, sometimes I did two ten minute workouts. I also did one hour on the exercise bike every day but Thursday! My legs are ‘feeling it’ definately, but that’s ok ’cause I’m proud of myself for sticking with it. I average 12,000-14,000 steps in addition to that, so, I’m hoping this is one of those ‘lifestyle’ changes you hear about on the talk shows. The diet really hasn’t changed too much. Trying to cut out beef, had veggie burgers this week for lunch. Sticking with the whole grains as well…no margarine or butter. Real peanut butter with no additives takes some getting used to, but I tell myself, just learn to like it. I’ve cut back on my coffee intake by 1/3, (ahhh) and green tea in the evenings is getting to be a habit. Bought a walmart chicken last night and buns for supper instead of eating out. Fed us three for only $10 as opposed to probably 50 at a restaurant, AND we ate much healthier! Today I got up way too early for a saturday, so I’ll have some coffee and cereal, then muster up some energy to go outside and cut grass ect. Week one has been a success!

Spring time workout!

Well, it seems that 10,000 steps a day are no problem. Working out of the home, (book keeping,) I tend to walk a lot to the coffee machine! lol With spring finally arriving, (possible snow friday morning? are you kidding me!) I’m even moving more. Yardwork has replaced my exercise bike, yet, I STILL need to remember to do some weights. I’ve decided it’s best to log onto the computer at the most, every other day. It seems, once I start checking e-mail and ect, 2 hours get burned up REAL fast. Time that would be better spent exercising or like I said earlier, WEIGHTS!

So, I did the Biggest Loser Jumpstart dvd. OMG! In 10 minutes, (1 workout) I actually was out of breath AND worked up sweat! A decade ago, I was doing Billy Blanks Tae Bo! Talk about a holy crap moment! I had no idea how out of shape I actually am. I guess that proves that even carring an extra 20 pounds takes it toll, big time.

No yard work today, WAY to windy, so either the elliptical or bike AS WELL as the weight machine will get the honor of my presence this evening! Time to sign off. 25 minutes and counting. Need to finish paperwork then steam the tile! Oh, I watched the season finale of Biggest Loser last night. What a difference 7 months makes! Yes, I realize they workout 4-5 hours a day, but I’m sure I can manage a hour and a half in my day. Take care everyone and have a great day!

Exercise Log

step counter

So I bought myself a step counter. They say 10,000 steps a days burns about 500 calories, however, since I already do lots of walking, it says to increase the amount of steps and intensity in order to burn those calories. Who knew losing weight could be so mind boggling! So, the way I figure it, I should walk at least 15,000 steps a day PLUS a cardio and weights! I REALLY NEED SOME SERIOUS INSPIRATION HERE!!!!!

PGX Daily

O.K. So has anyone here actually tried this stuff? Everything I know about it I have read on the internet yet I don’t know anyone who has taken it. This one lady at the health food store says her friend has just started, (1 week) and it has lowered her blood sugar levels. Nothing noted about weight loss. I take a multi vitamin, flax and of course vitamin D. I’m not a big pill taker, but I am curious if pgx will help in getting rid of belly fat. They say you see results in 90 days, that’s a lot of $ and pills to take for 3 months, especially if they do nothing. Just wondering if anyone has tried this, and if so, drop me a note and tell me what you think. Oh, I’ve started mini-crunches, (they say full sit-ups are bad for your back) and I bought a step counter.

Cold/Sinus

Blah blah blah. So, over the last week I’ve had a terrible cold therefore, there were NO workouts. On the bright side, I felt so crappy that I barely ate anything as well. Lost over 2lbs but I guess that’s to be expected when the only food that entered my body was homemade chicken soup. I added barley to it so at least I got some fiber as well. Don’t think I’lll be doing any major exercising for a few more days either. My body is still so sore.

I saw something on The View called the F factor diet or something. I’m NOT going to get the book or anything but I do think I’ll try and increase my fiber content. Usually in the morning I make Fruit smoothies with added flax meal or I have a bowl of Costco brand Flax fiber cereal. Think for a snack in the evening (before 7pm) I’ll have that as well.

This dry cough is driving me crazy! Another cup of green tea awaits in the micro. Take care all and stay healthy!
